Awards

Each winning student will receive a trophy, a certificate, and an equal sharing of the Student Education Award among all team members. The monetary prize will be distributed to each winning student upon their successfully entering university, in installments until all monies have been disbursed.
The supervising teacher of each winning team will receive a trophy, a certificate, and a Teacher Leadership Award. The Teacher Leadership Award will be distributed within a year following the awards announcement.
Hang Lung Properties donates HK$2.5 million for each competition, of which HK$1 million is set aside as prize money. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology sponsors up to eight Educator Scholarships for teachers nominated by the winning schools to enroll in the Master of Science Program in Mathematics for Educators. Details are listed in the chart below.

Each winning school will receive a crystal trophy and a School Development Award. The School Development Award shall be applied towards the development of mathematics education at the winning school. A report outlining how the award is used should be submitted to the Secretariat of Hang Lung Mathematics Awards within a year after the awards announcement.
Each winning school may also nominate a teacher to receive a Educator Scholarship for the Master of Science Program in Mathematics for Educators at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology within three academic years after the awards announcement. The supervising teacher of the winning team should have the priority to be nominated. The tuition fees for the program will be reimbursed to the teacher upon successful enrollment of the program, and achievement of a satisfactory academic performance.

The Hang Lung Mathematics Awards is held biennially. At each competition, up to eight awards will be presented to the teams whose mathematics research projects meet the highest academic standards in terms of methodology, research, and scholarship. The eight awards are: a Gold Award, a Silver Award, a Bronze Award, and up to five Honorable Mentions.

Each award consists of four prize components: a Student Education Award, a Teacher Leadership Award, a School Development Award, and an Educator Scholarship to pursue a MSc Program in Mathematics for Educators at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

In addition to the monetary prizes above, trophies and certificates will also be awarded.

All students who have participated in the Hang Lung Mathematics Awards will receive a certificate of participation, given that their submitted research reports have achieved a reasonable academic standard.
