Hang Lung Mathematics Awards (HLMA) is delighted to announce the launch of the “HLMA Research Club” with an aim of raising students’ interest in mathematics research and supporting secondary/high school teachers for mentoring students.
As a kick-off event, two distinguished professors at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) will join us for two public online talks and introduce some of the hottest topics in Pure and Applied Mathematics. These are must-attend events for all aspiring students who are eager to learn more about mathematics research.
On May 6, Prof. Wei-ping LI, Chair Professor of Mathematics will speak on the “Evolution of mathematics”. Prof. Yang WANG, Vice-President for Institutional Advancement, and Chair Professor of Mathematics will introduce the world of “Machine Learning and Generative Adversarial Nets (GAN)” on May 13. Our speakers will bring you on a journey through the historical development of numbers and geometry, and a glimpse into the future of machine learning algorithms and their applications.
This could be your first step in discovering the beauty of mathematics and unlocking infinite possibilities and beyond!
The events are free of charge. Since the audience capacity of Zoom platform is limited, early registration is strongly recommended. The registration deadline is April 29, 2022. A confirmation email with Zoom information will be sent to participants three days before the event.
