We are pleased to announce the formation of the 2025 Hang Lung Mathematics Awards (HLMA) Steering Committee and Scientific Committee.
This year, we are once again honored to have world-renowned mathematicians and respected representatives from various sectors of society sitting on our Steering Committee and Scientific Committee, respectively the advisory and adjudicating body of HLMA. The members, each an expert in their respective areas, are led by astrophysicist and Nobel Prize laureate Professor George F. Smoot in the Steering Committee, and by Wolf Prize-winning mathematician Professor Richard Schoen in the Scientific Committee.

We are proud to have the unwavering support of our long-term members, some of whom have contributed to HLMA since its inception more than two decades ago. Meanwhile, we are thrilled to welcome three mathematicians – Professor Hélène Esnault, Professor Guangyue Han, and Professor Ya Yan Lu – who are joining us for the first time.
With the guidance and expertise of such distinguished committee members, we are confident that the competition will not only uphold its rigorous academic standards but also inspire young participants to pursue mathematical excellence at the highest level.
