Teachers Information Session on 2023 HLMA

To kick off 2023 Hang Lung Mathematics Awards (HLMA), the HLMA Research Club held the Teachers Information Session for secondary school teachers on Friday, January 13, 2023. 

Professor Shing Yu Leung and Professor Frederick Fong of HKUST introduced the competition and activities of HLMA and gave teachers a clear picture of the whole competition from registration to the adjudication process. They also shared some advice with teachers on how to guide their students during research. Around 40 secondary school teachers attended the Teachers Information Session in person. More than half of them were from the schools that have never participated in HLMA before. We also had some teachers who participated in HLMA themselves when they were students, and are now leading their students on this remarkable journey.

The teachers gave positive feedback after the event. They thought the information session helped them understand the competition better and inspired them on how to cultivate students’ interest in mathematics research.
