While AI has made many aspects of life easier, in a world where answers are just a click away, when was the last time you paused to think independently, learn deeply, and challenge your own assumptions?

HLMA Talks is honored to welcome Dr. Ya-Qin Zhang, a globally recognized computer scientist, entrepreneur, and AI pioneer, as our featured speaker. The conversation will be moderated by Professor Helen Meng, Patrick Huen Wing Ming Professor of Systems Engineering & Engineering Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Together, they will examine how AI is accelerating frontier research, the challenges of AI safety, the evolving U.S.-China AI landscape, and the breakthroughs that are shaping humanity's next chapter in AI.

After entering the University of Science and Technology of China at just 12 years old and earning a PhD in Electrical Engineering from George Washington University by the age of 23, Dr. Zhang went on to build a storied 16-year career at Microsoft, where he rose to Corporate Vice President, before serving for 6 years as President of Baidu and later leading AI industry research at Tsinghua University.
